Chancellor Jeremy Hunt vowed several times to end the reliance on migration for growth “by building a high-wage, high-skill economy” and “not just higher GDP but higher GDP per head.” However, he did not outline any policies that would achieve this.
To be clear, migration has always been at the heart of the Tory economic “growth” plan, even when the proof that the strategy is working is minimal. The average British person is poorer than they were in 2010, as immigration drives down living standards, and the government is eager to cover this fact up. From this year on, they will stop monitoring tax income by nationality, but the truth is plain to see.
To add insult to injury, the hated non-domestic tax system has not truly been abolished but has been replaced with a system that gives recently arrived migrants a massive tax cut for five years.
And to top it all off, millions are going to be spent building a statue that honours the “contributions” that these migrants have made to our country. This was not a budget for the British people.
While the government claims it will increase spending on public services, budgets in “unprotected areas” will be slashed by £20 billion per year. This means that border patrols, prisons, housing, and transport will all be cut, along with many other services. Yet, as foreign aid is protected, we will send more money to solve other problems in other countries while our people go without.
The meagre cuts to national insurance will be completely offset by rises in income tax in a few years, leaving working people trapped in the most overtaxed economy since the end of WWII.
All serious economists recognize that investment in the economy is the number one way to boost real growth. Public investment in infrastructure and industry will also be cut by roughly £20 billion per year, leaving our economy outdated and declining. Our already overloaded infrastructure will continue to be overloaded with mass immigration, and the government will not spend a penny to fix the problems.
When the Homeland Party wins power, we will begin a national frenzy of investment in every corner of our country to bring back stable and well-paid jobs in proper, innovative, and clean industrial sectors. We would break any dependence on cheap migrant labour by making an economy that works for our people first. We can achieve a high-skill, high-wage model if only Westminster politicians had more ambition for our people instead of suspicion and hatred.
