This Sunday, members of the Homeland Party came together in Forfar to once again do battle with the menace of the Himalayan Balsam that has taken root.
This invasive species from halfway around the world spreads very quickly and can completely take over an area of land, completely drowning out native species.
Removal by hand is easy but requires a lot of people to get involved in order to make a dent due to how much Balsam has taken over.

Local activist Dave Gardner called in the troops to aid in the local effort to hold the Balsam at bay.
As with everything worth doing, these things take time, are not glamorous, you don’t get a fanfare and results only show after a lot of effort.
But things do change when people put in the time and effort. And more people equals more change
