Homeland Party Statement – Response to the Media Coverage of the Epping Protests

While the people of Epping are successfully pressuring their council and the Home Office, through peaceful protest, to stop using the Bell Hotel to house illegal migrants, the mainstream media and far-left groups have cynically attacked the local residents who organised those protests. The demonstrations began after a migrant housed at the hotel sexually assaulted a young girl.

Rather than listen to the legitimate concerns of a community shaken by this crime, an offence committed all too frequently across the country by migrants, these outlets have chosen to vilify local people. Organisers and supporters, ordinary law-abiding citizens, have been smeared with labels such as “far right”, “Nazis”, “fascists”, and even absurd accusations of Russian control.

These slurs are not only false (so obviously false that it would demean us to explain why) but they are used deliberately to silence dissent and delegitimise anyone who dares to criticise the government’s failed immigration policies.

The Homeland Party is rooted in the communities we serve. Our local organisers work directly with residents to organise lawful and peaceful protests. We provide everything from leaflets to loudspeakers, and even gazebos when it rains. We are not outsiders; we are neighbours, parents and workers who live on the same streets and estates as those we support. We do not demand that everyone agree with us on everything. Far from it. We will, however, work with any resident or community group trying to protect their homes, families and way of life.

While some outside support from the right can be legitimate, for example, neighbouring communities offering solidarity, we condemn the grifting charlatans who travel from miles away to stir up chaos and clash with the far left “counter-protesters”, giving them exactly what they want. Such individuals do not care about the communities they invade; they care only about boosting their own online profiles.

The so-called counter-protesters are led by the communist-aligned Stand Up to Racism group, which is in fact a front for the Socialist Workers Party. They are well-funded, bus activists in from across the country, and openly advertise their incursions online. Hope Not Hate, another well-funded political pressure group masquerading as a charity, endorses this behaviour and briefs the press with ready-made smears. Together, these far-left organisations seek to intimidate and silence ordinary residents who dare to defend their community, but you will rarely hear a word against them in the press.

The Homeland Party believes that real representation starts at the local level. That is why we stand candidates for local councils and why we encourage protests to be led by local councillors where possible. When people are forced to protest against their own council, it is not extremism; it is a sign that democracy has failed them, and the Homeland Party is here to help remedy that failure.

No amount of media distortion, left-wing spin or ideological smears will prevent ordinary people from waking up to the changes occurring around them. We urge the press and the political establishment to stop dismissing the public as “far-right extremists” and to start listening before it is too late. The longer you refuse to engage with genuine concerns, the more you reveal your contempt for the people—and the stronger their reaction will be.
