ITV bosses are said to be in “crisis talks” after it emerged that Phillip Schofield and his co-presenter Holly Willoughby are embroiled in a long-running feud. It’s been suggested that the two presenters barely speak off-screen these days.
After presenting This Morning alone, sources say Holly is looking to branch out on her own and has realised she no longer needs Phil as her sidekick!
Seriously, who cares? This is the sort of nothingburger news story that the mainstream media tell you that you want to hear. The same media that photographed Princess Diana from a mile away then chased her to her death, and then have the audacity to tell us that in a roundabout way we were to blame for wanting to see and hear what she’d been doing. All the while, no one actually cared.
It was the same going into the millennium and beyond. We are constantly fed nonsense about the actions of people who don’t affect our lives in any way while being told it’s what we really want to hear about.
What makes it worse is that these people, people like Schofield, are praised as heroes for no other reason than their sexual orientation. When the Americans killed the Iranian General Qasem Solemani in 2020 the Iranian media called him a hero. They also had a laugh at the West’s expense, remarking that our equivalent hero would be an actor or sportsman, not some fearless general. Are they wrong? I bet you can’t name two people that have been awarded the Victoria or George Cross.
The Homeland party would endeavour to make sure our true heroes, be they in the armed forces or civilians, were given the recognition they deserve. They should be the ones on the front pages of the papers, while the likes of Schofield, with his grubby little secrets, should be kept in their place.
