When is a New Scot, not a New Scot?

Well, whenever they specifically decide so.

In a story that’s flown under the radar this month, SNP councillor Kairin Van Sweeden has resigned from the SNP after she called Labour councillor Deena Tissera a “New Scot.” This comment rattled the Sri Lankan, who said the remarks were “nothing less than racism.” She also called for councillor Van Sweeden to be suspended while she was investigated. In case anyone is in any doubt at all, Ms Van Sweeden is White.

So, in steps, big Humza to back up his teammate, right? Wrong. He has, predictably, sided with Deena Tissera. It’s incredible how that happens. It was he that Tissera wrote to asking for Van Sweeden’s suspension. She called on Yousaf to “stand together against racism.” It’s incredible how these people quickly forget the political differences over this issue.

The man with a problem with “White!” people in the top jobs in Scotland continued, “It wasn’t just clumsy. It speaks to the unconscious bias and discrimination that people hold, and we all have to challenge ourselves – we all have it – but we have to challenge ourselves about it. But there’s just no kind of place for that language. I saw the comments, and I was thoroughly disappointed.” This man would have no standards if it weren’t for double standards.

Ms Van Sweeden has decided to fall on her sword and beg for forgiveness, which only invites more attacks on her and her people. Everyone knows you MUST defend yourself against something like this. Apologising does not appease people easily offended by their differences. Let’s stay within reach of ourselves, however. Van Sweeden isn’t our girl standing up for our people in the council chamber. But two non-natives of our Isles are targeting her and deciding her future based on race.

Interestingly, the SNP’s website uses the phrase “New Scot” to mean people who have come to Scotland who aren’t ethnically Scottish. It’s a term the SNP uses to push diversity in the faces of those of us who feel that ancestry is the only determining factor that makes you a Scot. It’s an attempt to obfuscate and erase our native identity to incorporate other people’s identity. Deena Tissera IS a New Scot. She has no Scottish ancestry, and her homeland will always be Sri Lanka. How do we know this? Well, she said so herself in 2022 in the Sunday Times. “There’s a massive Sri Lankan community here (Scotland), and all of us are upset about what’s going on (in Sri Lanka)… We may be in another country, but our hearts will always be with our home.”

Her home is Sri Lanka. She says so herself.

She is a New Scot, meaning the only connection to these lands is the political membership and civil acceptance of the bureaucratic liberal system.

She saw an opportunity to show her hatred for our people and Van Sweeden and happily used the race card.

And Humza couldn’t wait to join in.

Well, can you imagine a German “New Scot” Labour councillor being able to get Humza to side with him about the same comment being made? It’d never happen; we all know it. This was an attack on the Scots as much as it was on Van Sweeden, yet another attack on our identity and a reminder that “New Scots” will always link arms against anyone European to further their quest to make our homelands look like theirs.

It’s long past time that our people came first in our homeland.
