A SCOTS TV star who starred in a Sylvester Stallone Netflix show was jailed today after the assault of a woman outside a hotel.
David Ferguson chased Lucy Redhead from a Citizen M hotel on October 30 2023, before catching up to her and repeatedly punching her in the face.
34-year-old Ferguson became a TV sensation when he starred on the Netflix show The Ultimate Beastmaster. The show saw Ferguson—among others—take on ‘The Beast’, a structure that featured a seemingly impossible set of strength and endurance challenges.
Miss Redhead suffered severe injuries, including a broken nose, a missing tooth and swelling around her face.
Ferguson has been hit with an 18-month jail sentence on top of a 10-year non-harassment order, which will strictly prohibit any contact with Miss Redhead.
It’s like shooting fish in a barrel with stories of famous deviants.
Between this chap, the likes of Huw Edwards, and the continuing unravelling story of Sean P. Diddy/Daddy Combs in America, it does beg the question, why do we celebrate celebrities in the way we do?
We all like a decent song, watching a good film, or getting off the hook when our favourite sports team wins, with those involved almost laundered to God status.
But the adoration is often unjust, with the “hero” usually being an extremely flawed character.
When the USA killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, the Iran media commented that he was a national hero. If they were to try and kill the American equivalent, they couldn’t because there are no heroes in the West outside of the cult of “celebrity.”
Perhaps we should take a leaf out of the Iranians’ book and revere those individuals who have genuinely benefited our culture, the kind of people who make a difference to their community.
We want to cultivate this kind of culture, and this is reflected in our community politics approach. If you’re an individual who can make a positive difference, join the Homeland Party and get involved in your community.
