The Party has been formally founded!

A few of us agreed to make a go of it in the early hours of Wednesday 19th April. We are less than three weeks in and so much has been achieved already:

  • We have our Party name, colours and branding.
  • The website is up and running.
  • We have built various parts of a behind-the-scenes IT infrastructure.
  • Events are being held up and down the country.
  • We have community councillors on board.

Tonight we are very pleased to announce the Party has been formally founded and we are now operating under our Constitution. The National Council agreed upon a draft Constitution over the weekend and this has been approved by the membership today.

Key points

  • The National Council is the executive, entrusted with deciding the political direction of the Party and the management of its day-to-day running.
  • The Chairman has the authority to enforce the decisions of the council, he is selected by a two-thirds majority vote of the council and can be removed by the council.
  • The Treasurer must present a financial report to the AGM and this must be approved by the membership. This is a big step forward in transparency.
  • The members will vote on changes to the constitution at an AGM. This gives the members a veto against any changes they don’t like.
  • A Code of Conduct and Financial Scheme have been produced to accompany this.

The final step

We have sent an application off to the Electoral Commission, who are responsible for registering parties so they can stand candidates under a party name at an election; they do not create or approve parties. We expect to hear back from them after June.

We would like to thank everyone who helped make this happen and give a special thanks to you all for putting your faith in us to see it through.

What’s next for Homeland?

Soon we will have a membership scheme open to the public and operating through the website.

We will be launching two new shows, one will be a regular news broadcast from the nationalist point of view, the other will be a more lighthearted talk show.

Our community politics approach will be laid out in detail, including an education program and support for local candidates.
