Police have been rushed to a stabbing incident which took place at the British Museum this morning, the 8th of August. The attack is believed to have taken place at 10am in the queue just outside the Museum itself, with the perpetrator being arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm and one victim being taken to hospital. Many on social media have reported that the museum is being evacuated.
Emergency services were called to the scene early this morning at the world famous museum which houses antiquities spanning the entirety of human history and is a symbol of Britain’s majesty and influence throughout the world.
Stabbing incidents in Sadiq Khan’s London rose to 12,786 this year, up from 11,122 the previous year, and knife crime is expected to continue to rise as the stop and search policy has been scrapped amid racial backlash and concerns about discrimination as black Londoners, who make up 53% of knife crime perpetrators, felt that they were being disproportionately stopped by police.
Police have confirmed that there is no further threat to the general public with the perpetrator having been taken into custody. This is a developing story, and more information is expected to be released by the police in the next few hours.
