Up in Scotland, the north east region saw another round of plant removal at the monthly volunteering session at Forfar Loch on the weekend.
The problems caused by the Himalayan Balsam are increasing. They spread rapidly, choking out all native plant life. However, they can be removed with a bit of will power and some hard graft.
We even uncovered a few saplings struggling to get enough sunlight within the infestation area.
It’s slow work but essential, the more hands we have, the quicker the problem gets solved.
