Strong Showing of Nationalism in Germany’s Elections: A Blueprint for the UK?

The naysayers and pessimists had best look away—hope and optimism abound as we review the German elections and what this could mean for UK nationalism going forward.

The Rise of AfD: A Nationalist Surge in Germany

The biggest political shake-up in Germany has been the surge in support for the nationalist Alternative for Germany (AfD). The party has doubled its vote share from the 2021 election, now securing around 21% of the vote in the recent federal election—making it the second-largest party in the Bundestag.

Meanwhile, Germany’s so-called “conservative” party, the Christian Democrats (CDU), won with just over 28%, marking the highest voter turnout since reunification. In stark contrast, the left-wing Social Democrats (SPD) took a mere 16%—their worst result since World War II and the first time they have failed to place in the top two.

This truly is a monumental achievement for the AfD.

Founded in 2013 by conservatives disillusioned with Angela Merkel’s stance on the Euro and the European Union, the AfD initially focused on economic policy. However, the party found its most substantial support in 2015, when it shifted focus to anti-immigration policies, popularising “remigration” with the German people.

After securing 94 seats in the 2017 federal election, AfD’s popularity has continued to grow, reflecting the electorate’s increasing frustration with Germany’s globalist establishment.

The “Firewall” Against AfD and the Political Establishment’s Fear

The AfD’s meteoric rise hasn’t gone unnoticed by Germany’s ruling class. The so-called “firewall”—an agreement among establishment parties to refuse cooperation with so-called “far-right” parties—has been one of the primary weapons deployed to limit AfD’s influence.

Despite these constant attempts to isolate and demonise the AfD, voter confidence in nationalist policies is only growing.

What This Means for UK Nationalism

Some will argue that Germany’s unique history and political system make replicating the AfD’s success elsewhere tricky. However, the fundamental reality of European politics suggests otherwise.

Like Germany and other European nations, the UK has been subjected to decades of globalist governance, where mass immigration policies take precedence over the well-being of native populations. Across the continent, Indigenous Europeans are rejecting this two-tiered system—one that prioritises migrants over natives. The AfD’s rise is part of a broader nationalist countermovement pushing back against this globalist stranglehold.

The Homeland Party: Britain’s Answer to AfD?

The explosive growth of the Homeland Party confirms this reality. Since our inception less than two years ago, we have seen:

  • Membership increased by over 900%
  • More activists stepping into leadership roles
  • Branches established across most of the UK

We have built strong relationships with like-minded nationalist parties across Europe, including AfD in Germany and Konfederacja (The Confederation Liberty and Independence) in Poland.

We remain the only political party in the UK advocating for a remigration policy—just as the AfD has done in Germany. Through relentless activism, we have pushed the word “remigration” into the public consciousness and mainstream lexicon more than anyone else in Britain.
